PUBLIC STATEMENT — FEDe. Colombia rejects the CRC’s request to media outlets and reiterates its commitment to press freedom and citizen oversight

The Foundation for the Rule of Law (FEDe. Colombia) rejects the request made by the Communications Regulation Commission (CRC) to obtain information on journalistic and news content from media outlets. In accordance with Article 20 of the Constitution, freedom of the press is an essential pillar of the democratic order. Actions such as this one disregard journalistic independence and the editorial autonomy of the media, and exceed the State's regulatory power.
