Press Release
The Government defies the separation of powers by insisting on a popular consultation without the Senate’s approval
27/05/2025
The Constitution and Laws 134 of 1994 and 1757 of 2015 are clear: to call a national popular consultation, the President requires the prior favorable opinion of the Senate. Without that approval, the consultation lacks constitutional validity and its results have no binding effect.
