The Foundation for the Rule of Law expresses its concern regarding the recent breakdown in the institutional relationship between the National Government and the Banco de la República. Beyond the decisions inherent to monetary policy, what is truly alarming is that institutional channels are being disregarded and the independence of the central bank is being called into question.
