FEDe. Colombia’s statement on the situation of Justice Vladimir Fernández

The Foundation for the Rule of Law (FEDe. Colombia) issues a statement on recent reports of conversations attributed to Justice Vladimir Fernández Andrade and Olmedo López, former director of the National Unit for Disaster Risk Management (UNGRD), which came to light in the investigations concerning that entity. FEDe. Colombia considers that Justice Fernández should request a temporary leave from his duties while the facts are clarified. This measure does not entail any judgment on his responsibility, nor does it replace the powers of the authorities responsible for investigating him. It is a temporary measure intended to separate the handling of the individual allegations from the exercise of the Court's functions.
