Respect for judicial independence in the ruling on the minimum wage — In response to the Council of State ruling suspending the decree that set the wage increase

In response to the Council of State ruling suspending the decree setting the minimum wage increase for 2026, President Gustavo Petro stated he would comply, but simultaneously called for demonstrations against the decision "at the palaces of justice in the country's capital cities." We call on the Government to respect the independent and autonomous decisions of the courts, to operate within the limits imposed by the Constitution and the laws, and to refrain from using social mobilization as a form of undue pressure on the functioning and rulings of the judiciary in Colombia.
